I hope you recall the record climb up the Dawn Wall of El Cap a few months ago. Wow, what a finger ripping accomplishment that was.
Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson became the first to free-climb the Dawn Wall. The cracks are more like the air between sheets of paper. Free climbers use ropes and harnesses only for safety but not to help them ascend.
Do you know about an event called 5Points? It’s a film festival in Carbondale, Colorado April 23-26. Adventure themes. Now I know you won’t be going – hey, Carbondale is 170 miles west of Denver. But it’s nice to know what’s going on.
The FIVE points the participants follow are:
Caldwell will attend the 5Point Film Festival. He will participate in a moderated discussion on how the media affects adventure. The carrot is the showing of the film “A Line Across the Sky.” He’ll also appear with other Yosemite Valley climbers. There is no word when it will be released for viewing at other venues.
Watch a 7 minute Trailer of the film. It features Tommy and Alex Honnold on some wild Patagonia climbing.
I know most of us are hikers…..that’s ok. I’m not a climber – but I continue to be respectful of their abilities. But I wonder if they could HIKE Half Dome…:>)
