Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
I just got my film back from the developer so I have a few shots to share. Actually, I haven’t had a blog slot to share these digital pix. (Funny, I still see REAL 35 mm film for sale.) If you recall, I went up mid-Feb to try and see the majestic glowing red Horsetail Fall, as seen in Michael Frye’s excellent photo below. No Photoshop here. This is what it looks like for a brief period.
Well here’s what we saw on Feb 20 an hour before sunset. Bla. The weather stunk for this event and very little water was flowing out of the fall. Here’s the big picture…it lies just to the right of El Cap. I circled the wimpy water trickle.
The next shot is a 10x zoom to the fall. Oh boy, maybe 60 feet drop. Has anyone gotten good pix this year? You can click on them to make them a bit bigger.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Patient observation and constant brooding above the rocks, laying upon them for years as the ice did, is the way to arrive at the truths which are graven so lavishly upon them. – John Muir, 1870
