Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Brain Bucket

As the cold winds slowly move into the Sierra, snow is right behind. The latest forecast is “snow likely” on Friday. If you’ve put away your hiking gear for the season (shame on you), you may be thinking of skiing. The greater Lake Tahoe Region has more ski resorts than anywhere else in the US. No problem finding a new place. We have the big boys, from Squaw, Heavenly, Kirkwood and Alpine Meadows to the more humbler spots like Boreal, Bear Valley and our own Badger Pass. Badger is located right of the Glacier Point Rd and is a great beginner and family resort. Lift tickets are about half of the big resorts at $42. They have 4 lifts and 10 runs. Vertical drop is a meager 800 feet, but a good place for those just starting out or kids. If you go, please wear a helmet. And be careful of your knees. We want to see you on Half Dome next summer!

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Monday Monday, so good to me. Monday, Monday, it was all I hoped it would be. Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn’t guarantee, that Monday evening you would still be here with me.” – Mamas and Papas
