The Yosemite by John Muir. Published in 1912 (2 years before his death), is a collection of his musings about the park. While a bit to heavy on flora for me, he describes the major parts of the park and has a good treatment of how the park was formed.
Remember that he and Josiah Whitney (CA Chief Geologist) were at odds on this. Whitney felt a cataclysmic event dropped the valley down. Kinda like a Corvette eating sink hole.
In the end, old John was proven right. The book is 284 pages long and is readily available. It is also on Kindle for a buck if you like to read off of a tablet. An mp3 download is available as well as an OCR scanned online version done by Dan Anderson <HERE>.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Rainy day, rain all day. Ain’t no use in gettin’ uptight – Just let it groove its own way. Let it drain your worries away. Lay back and groove on a rainy day.” – The Jimi Hendrix Experience
