As I write this at 7:30 am June 1, permits are still popping up in the recreation.gov website. “Never give up – Never surrender.”  Just because they went for the date you wanted in 5 minutes, you need to hang in there. The timer for payment is 12 minutes and people who load their cart up often take to long to pay. So bing – they become available. I just saw 6 for Sept 22.

   More musing later today.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Never give up – Never surrender.” Galaxy Quest

    Diablo has great wildflowers.

Look at the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association website. They publish a great map and a lot of trail suggestions.

Some of the trails on Diablo are dirt roads. I like the single-track trails.

If you’re looking at the entire SF Bay Area, Mount Tamalpais, Mount “Tam” in Marin County also has a lot of gorgeous, moderately challenging hikes and coastal views.

Progress on Tioga Road? How good a hike is Mt Diablo near the Bay area? Does it have a lush landscape, and lots of tree cover?
