As we’ve mentioned many times, 2014 is the 150th Anniversary of the bill that Abe Lincoln signed to set aside the Valley and Mariposa Big Trees for people’s recreation.
The great filmmaker Ken Burns created a special film describing the impact of that. Please join me as I am the Master of Ceremonies for a showing of the half-hour film next week at two REI’s in the SF Bay area. It is not out on DVD and can only be bought at the park.
Aug 12 at REI San Francisco
Aug 13 at REI San Carlos
After the film, I will present my award-worthy presentation of “The History of Half Dome” and answer all questions about the hike. Plenty of time to go up this summer and I’ll share how to get one of those elusive permits.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Cause this is thriller, thriller night. And no one’s gonna save you from the beast about to strike.” – Michael jaacson
