Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Dear Friends,

I write you today from Dubee Dubee Dubai. Smack in middle of the United Arab Emirates. The flight from SFO was over 15 hours. But Emirates Airlines is very painless. Their Audio/Video set up features a 10-inch screen at every seat with literally hundreds for movies and albums to choose from. Extra legroom in steerage and nice food. We’re exactly on the opposite side of the earth from Yosemite. All the modern architecture is worth seeing – the tallest structure in the world is here. They also have an indoor ski slope. Really. Every time you fill up with gas, you pay for it, but pretty darn hot here. In 2 days we’ll be steaming past Somalia and the Black Beard pirates. A cruise ship has never been boarded, but we’ll have extra security with bagels and hot coals to toss overboard. I’m here to teach Nordic Walking. The Euro sport that has not caught on in the US, but I’ll save that for a future blog. I didn’t get any takers to guest blog yet.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “I get up, go to work, go home and go to bed.” – My dad’s mantra for 50 years.

Sounds like a very cool trip. I can guest blog if you want. I can rant on about how I think the “permit” system to climb the subdome and the cables is dorky.
