Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Well another Half Dome hiking season is in the record books. I made it up to #25. How many have you reached your goal? Remember you don’t “conquer” Half Dome, it lets you pass. So with the cables down and winter storms moving in, we can slow down and think of other things to do. But don’t stop your training. It will be a lot easier next year if you keep in shape. In fact, the idea is never to have to “get in shape” – try to be “in shape” (whatever that means). My overarching advice in October is to BOOK YOUR ACCOMODATIONS NOW for 2010. Really, after the Ken Burns special the park will be jammed even more than usual. I already have 3 dates in Curry Village booked. Remember, you can always cancel within 3 days. I’m going in mid-June and invited yall to come along. No takers yet, gee am I that obnoxious? Page back in the blogs to see the details. I go alone if push comes to shove. With that I’ll sign off. I am in Dubrovnik flying to NYC for another Nordic Walking program on Crystal Cruises. We had 21 people try out this new way to exercise. You can actually burn up to 40% more calories by involving your upper body. They are different than trekking poles and mostly used on the flats. OK 10-4 from here.
