A bad first day for the cables to be up. VERY dangerous with the cloud hanging = damp. I hope reason prevailed and no one attempted it. It’s in the “Wilderness” and the ranger at Sub Dome will not stop you. Only suggest that it’s a death wish. Intghe Wilderness you are to assess any risks involved and make decisions appropriately. A shout out to my friends who were at the Pleasanton Library last night. A lot of enthusiasm. Welcome to the blog. All Half Dome and nothing but Half Dome…and some Yosemite, and some gear, and some of my musings – but mostly Half Dome. Comments welcome!

We were up there yesterday and it was treacherous! We got about halfway up the cables and came back down as it was just way too slick. There was a family from Georgia who attempted to go all the way up after us (and after we told them not to). Any way to figure out if they made it?

Brenda,
I know some people made it up, but the only way to tell if they had problems is the YOSAR report – and no rescues were noted. Congrats on your better wisdom.

Tioga Road and Glacier Point Road have been closed due to snow and ice. Plan your trip accordingly.
