Free admission to Yosemite from April 16-24. Why? If you didn’t know, it’s National Park Week. Be sure and send out your Hallmark Greeting cards! No Abril Phul joke here. Click <HERE>. That is, if the Government doesn’t shut down this weekend. Really. National Parks will be among the non-essential functions to go on sabbatical. I mean, we’re talking about NO BUDGET for the fiscal year that started October 1, 2010.  In ’95-’96 that shut down lasted 26 days. Yosemite might turn into “Nosemite.” Sigh

So what will you do if the park is closed?  I am a big fan of cross-training. My friends at Sunrise Mountain Sports Kayak Center will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM on Lake Del Valle in Livermore this Saturday, APRIL 9th and Sunday APRIL 10th. Pick any 3-hour period and pay only $25 per person. A real deal and NO coupons needed.  Tell them Mr Half Dome sent you and they will give you a hearty hand clasp. Click <HERE> for more info.
