I spent the first part of the week at Yosemite. It was a mellow few days as Mrs HD came along and we brought the wonderdog Yosey (as in Yosemite). Since you cannot have pets in the lodgings, we got a nice room at the Hotel Charlotte in Groveland.
Charlotte does take pets. Owners Jenn and Doug have remodeled the place and moved a few walls. They now have a bar with brew on tap. Hmm, might take a few customers from the Iron Door Saloon across the street.
Driving on 120 east of Oakdale , we could see the cloud of smoke from the Hunter Fire. It was 600 acres burned near Bear Valley, west of Mariposa. It’s 90% contained today.
Cruising slowly east of we could see the evidence of the Rim Fire. Lots of black trees. But to be honest we could see green covering on the distant hills. So after 9 months, something is growing back.
On Tuesday the park was a ghost town. VERY pleasant. The hordes had left after their 3 day weekend.
The waterfalls are still doing good. Yosemite Falls was way less than usual this time of year, but it did have a decent flow. Vernal looked real good.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “The power of imagination makes us infinite.”
