Yosemite’s Superintendent, Don Neubacher and his top staff, the Pubic Information Office and park mailroom employees have relocated to Residence #34 in the Valley. This is across from the daycare center.
Most of the other affected Admin employees have moved to the El Portal Maintenance Complex, which is the huge concrete block facility on highway 140. A few were relocated to the Mariposa Office. Many are enjoying telecommuting from home; the rest are still in the valley at such places as the old Trails Office and the Museum. The same phone numbers work at the new offices. Lines have been transferred, if you get lost when you have an appointment, call.
Why all the shuffling?? There is a large remodel going on until about October that will bring the old Admin Building up to modern standards. The project will create a secondary code compliant way to exit from the 2nd and 3rd floors and install a real fire sprinkler system. The park got nabbed by OSHA for a fire alarm system violation in 2012. This will be fixed. An accessible restroom will be wedged in on the 1st floor, a new boiler put in, asbestos pipe insulation will be removed, structural repairs to the roof trusses will be done, and some minor electrical upgrades completed.
If you need to see the Super, find Resident #34 first.
