Yosemite Renaissance XXVI (that’s 26)

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

If you are a bona fide “artist.” There is an opportunity for you to get recognition. The NPS at Yosemite is hosting the 26th annual Yosemite Renaissance.  One of the least publicized events running. I’ve never heard of it. You??   Yosemite Renaissance is a non-profit organization for the arts of Yosemite, supported by funds and services from the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, the National Park Service and the Ansel Adams Gallery.
If you have created  recent works featuring the landscape, environment, wildlife and people of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada you need to perk up. Entries in any fine art mediumincluding painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, textile art and sculpture are accepted.
The competition is open to all living artists. Original artwork may be in any medium including the following: Painting (any medium); Photography/Digital; and Other (All other two- and three-dimensional media, including drawings, pastels, printmaking, textiles, and all 3-dimensional works).  Size is limited to works that can be shipped in containers not exceeding dimensions of 130 inches, length and girth combined. Between 35 and 50 pieces will be selected for the exhibition. Artists whose works are selected from the digital files will ship their original works for the exhibition at the Yosemite Museum Gallery. From the original works independent judges will select award-winners to be announced on the opening night  reception (Friday, February 25). At least $4,000 in cash awards will be given. The Board of Directors of Yosemite Renaissance (consisting of artists, curators and administrators) will make the initial selection of works for the exhibition.
Key dates are: November 13 = Entry deadline. Late December = Artists notified of judging results by email. February 25 – May 2, Yosemite Renaissance at the Yosemite Museum Gallery.
