Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Hear ye! The next YNP Open House is on Wednesday Dec 8 from 1-4 pm in the auditorium behind the Yosemite Valley visitor center. Before you think this is just a cookies and tea gathering, take note. Remember the Merced River Plan – do you? The NPS is preparing the Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the 81 miles of the river within Yosemite National Park. Sounds like yawn at first blush, but this is the outgrowth of the lawsuit that stopped development in the Valley after the 1997 flood. Project managers will be on hand to discuss the Outstandingly Remarkable Values Report for the Merced. Project alternative development concepts will be rolled out in meetings on January 13, 14 and 22 (tentative).
But of more importance to this user community, also at the Open House, Project Managers will be on hand to provide updates on the 2011 interim permit system for Half Dome. This may be the forum they use to tell us what will be the plan, Stan.
Can anyone out there attend?? I have a much rescheduled meeting that day with our Financial Planner, who manages my $200.00 net worth, so I may not be able to go. PLEASE tell me that someone will represent us and ask the right questions. A show of hands?? Great!
