A tip of the hat to the Yosemite Park Service crew that keeps the composting toilets on the way to Half Dome nice and tidy. I was on the trail one cold and lonely October a couple years back and there were just a handful of hikers on the trail. I ran into this worker who was diligently doing one of the least desirable jobs in the park.
It was the 2-plex at the top of the Mist Trail. You have to admit, the 3 units on the Half Dome hike are generally well kept and clean. They must have at least 8 rolls of TP for your use. (Suggest you toss a tiny roll into your pack just in case.)
Anyway, as these long dark nights lumber on, I thought we should appreciate things we take for granted. It got dark before 5 pm here today…. Come on Dec 21 so we can start looking forward to longer days.
Still no word from the park on the release of the Half Dome Stewardship Plan Environmental Assessment. They were trying to get it out before the ball drops on Times Square, but we shall see. When I know – you’ll know.
Snowy in the Sierra this week down to 2500 feet.
