Yosemite hosts Veterans during Pacific Crest Trail hike

Last month  Yosemite National Park hosted four combat veterans from the Warrior Hike “Walk off the War” program. They are doing the entire Pacific Crest Trail. The program is for veterans in their transition from wartime experiences. The PCT cuts through northern Yosemite and totals 2,663 miles.

Members of the Mariposa Chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars hosted a dinner in their honor. The park has an active special emphasis program for veterans of the armed services. (like me).

Dave Henderson drives the park’s involvement. He’s a disabled Army vet. He is manager of the park’s traffic program.  Did you know that Yosemite has 100 veterans working there?

A tip of the hat to our vets. As you may know, my webinars on Yosemite’s trails are free to vets.

Unrelated thought worth quoting:“Semper fi” – Semper fidelis Latin for “always faithful.” Motto of the Marine Corps
