I write you from Magoo’s Pizza in the village of Los Gatos, nestled up against the eastern edge of the Coastal Range. I’m here with Mrs. HD and we are bathed in 167 decibels coming from a kids party. We don’t have any little domelettes at home so this noise is hard to take. Earplugs are now in.
Here’s a shot I took of Yosemite Falls on April 12. You can see it’s roaring.
Here’s the Lower Cascade. No frazile ice – or snow cone. Too late.
And here’s Bridalveil. Looks good also.
I gave a Yosemite Presentation today in Brentwood. It’s east of Concord which is east of Oakland. Trilogy is an over-55 gated community. Free standing homes and a real nice clubhouse area. I’ve been giving monthly adventure talks there. If you are of that age bracket you might consider “Trilogy at the Vineyards.” No kids … ahhhhh. Anyway, a group from there is going to the park in mid-May so I am gave them the park overview. Geology, Humans, and the Greatest Hits. In 2 weeks I’ll tell them about things to see enroute and how to maximize their time in the park.
The new issue of the Yosemite Gazette is out. See page 9 for my article on Permits. I put copies at REI Saratoga, Dublin, Brentwood and Fremont. I can mail you one if you cover the shipping. I’ll get a big envelope, drive to the Post Office and send one out for $2.00 as a courtesy to readers. Send me a paypal for that to ricky.deutsch at gmail.com. Or you can subscribe at yosemitegazette.com
Finally, I cracked up laughing when this car passed me on Northside drive on Thursday.
Yes, those are chains on the front. He’s tooling on at 30+ mph with no snow in sight. I guess he didn’t bother to take them off when he came down Big Oak Flat the day before.
FREE park entrance from April 16 – 23, thanks to National Park Week.
