The Yosemite Conservancy (YC) has announced the date for the next Fall Gathering. It’s Saturday, October 1 in Wawona. Wawona Hotel reservations must be made by Monday, August 29. The event registration deadline is Friday, September 23. The event costs $50 per person. The agenda and more info is at the YC website. Contact is Adriana Pannick at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 415-434-8446 x329.
In other news, the Tioga Road Rehabilitation Environmental Assessment (EA) is out. The EA is now available for public review and the park is accepting comments from August 8 through September 8. The EA addresses the rehabilitation of approximately 41 miles of the Tioga Road. It addresses aging and deteriorated pavement and drainage features, as well as existing public safety concerns and natural resource impacts. You can hear about the plan on Wednesday, August 31 at the park’s Open House at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center Auditorium from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Printed and CD copies of the plan will be available at the Open House. There is no mention of a Webex connection.
New Vistor Center on Hwy 120
The Tuolumne County Visitor’s Bureau will soon be operating a Visitor’s Center out of the Chinese Camp Volunteer Fire Station. It will be open year round. The old site at the Hwy 120/108 junction is being torn down.
