Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
The Yosemite Association held its annual Fall Gathering the weekend of October 3 down at Wawona, in the shadow of the big trees. About 200 members attended the weekend festivities. I was unable to go, but dome veteran and reader Kathy L. of Sonora reported that the weekend was rather loose – a combination of YA offerings – walks/hikes, bird watches, architecture/history talks, etc. combined with offerings from the park – ranger led things. The Pioneer Village was up and running with the stage ride and costumed volunteers. Tom Bopp, who provides some of the music on my website was in fine form playing at the hotel. A barn dance with awards topped off the howdown. A raffle was held for a Bracebridge dinner and some wine and cheese. Superintendent Dave Uberuaga gave a talk and YA announced the possible merger with the Yosemite Fund. The Spring Forum will be held on March 27. Be there or be rectangular.
While I was not watching, the hit counter for the website crossed the 100,000 mark. Wow… in 2 ½ years there have be a tenth of million visits. Neato torpedo. Thanks for your support. I’ve gotten a few inquiries about the Half Dome trail going stealth at the top of Sub Dome. My comments on that next. Same Bat time – same Bat Channel.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “And I’m feelin’ glad all over. Yes, I’m glad all over. Baby, I’m glad all over. So glad you’re mine.” – Dave Clark Five
