Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Hello America! I’m now patrolling the Caribbean off the coast of Antigua. As you may know I lecture occasionally on cruise ships. I’m on Silversea now – a high end small ship. It only has suites and balconies. I gave them an hour of hiking info, then a talk on bicycling and in 3 days I’ll lecture on Yosemite. There are several folks here wanting to make the trip and I will give them the 4-1-1.
We are spending Christmas in 75 degree temps. Sorry to all readers who are in a deluge or blizzard. About 100 guests did not make their flights out of England for this cruise. I got in 2 scuba dives at Grand Turk and did a kayak/snorkel trip today near St Johns. These islands are neat but they get slammed every 10 years or so with a Hurricane.
I’m working with REI to set up the spring Half Dome presentation schedule. I’ll post them to the website once we bottom out. They will begin in March. I just heard that REI is going to build a store in Dublin, CA – near Pleasanton. My next one coming up is Jan 15 in Sonora. I’ll give 2 talks: 1. Someday Never Comes and 2. Half Dome in a day – Anyone can do it. If you are nearby, come to St at Patrick’s church. More details as we get close.
Internet on board is 45 cents a minute so I am not keeping up with too much at home or at Yosemite. If any big news comes out feel free to write up a guest blog on it and I’ll post it.
