Veterans to be honored at Yosemite

If you are at Yosemite tomorrow, May 7, keep an eye out for a group of 35 military veterans who will be at the park. World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War combat veterans are being bused from California Veterans homes in Fresno and Lancaster, California.

The event is an outgrowth of the 2011 “Veteran Special Emphasis Program” established in 2011. It was set up to support the 100+ military veterans working in the park.

The veterans will tour the park and attend exclusive events planned for them. There will be a military honor guard, private film showing, and special flag ceremony moderated by Superintendent Don Neubacher.

I’ve been to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto and meet with some of their vets. Many have no one. We need to show we care.
