Veteran’s Day

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Veteran’s Day is Nov 11. This is a rare pseudo holiday that was not moved to a Monday. Yosemite will offer free admission that day to all active duty and retired members of the United States armed forces and their families.  Free admission is being observed by all public lands managed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture. I suppose you need to show your active duty or retired ID card to get in for zip.  I am a Vietnam Era Veteran, but not retired (6 years was enough – USAF).  Go to a parade or at least say “thanks” to a Vet.  I’ll be driving my ’55 Tbird in the San Jose Veteran’s Day parade. (One of the largest in the country.) My draft # was 77, but I wanted to go in and went the ROTC way.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “I told you about the walrus and me-man. You know that we’re as close as can be-man. Well here’s another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul.” – Glass Onion,
The Beatles
