Thud – Winter’s here

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

I don’t normally read you the weather reports, but there is a big one coming. In light of yesterday’s notes on skiing, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday 4 PM through Wednesday 4 AM. Snow levels could drop down to 5000 feet by Wednesday morning.  4 inches due by Wednesday morning over the higher elevations. Then a much more intense system will move into the area from Thursday night through Friday. Snow levels as low as 4300 feet by Friday with 6-8” to fall. All three of the Sierra Nevada passes are closed – Ebbetts (Hwy 4), Sonora (Hwy 108) and Tioga (Hwy 120) due to snow and icy conditions. Get the egg nog ready! Get your chains out of the closet.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Chain, chain, chain, chain, chain, chain – Chain, chain, chain, chain of fools.” – Aretha Franklin
