The Dome is good to go June 16

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

YeeeeHaw!!   The cables will be up and in operation on June 16. (unless things get really weird). So go for it my friends. NO permits required on the kick off day….a weekday. If anyone is going, give us a trip report!  Let the hiking begin…please be careful – let’s do 2010 with no more falls. Watch the weather and bring a lot of water. Go guys!!!

what are the chances that there will still be snow on the sub dome on june 20th? i plan on hiking to half dome at night, and hope the snow will have melted.

The Sub dome steps will be totally safe and open. The NPS will not open the trail until all is safe. There WILL be snow up top to play in.

Anyone able to describe exactly where the Indian Caves are? Supposedly they are near Mirror Lake. There really is a big lake this year!

    • Sönke says:

Please send me an email with your reply address and I will send you a map that should help you to find Indian Caves (it’s copyrighted material otherwise I would post it here). It’s not too difficult to find. But don’t hang your expectations too high as it’s not really a cave. Please mail to: big_k [AT] gmx.net

Hiked the mist trail yesterday. Unless you want to take an early shower a poncho is a must. The trail itself has some puddles and runoff from the “mist” so watch out for getting your feet to wet. It’s a blast!
    Here’s a quick video.
