As summer nears, Yosemite news is worth reading

Yesterday the park announced that they are raising the fees for the 2-day mini lottery for Half Dome permits.

Effective when cables get up. and the 2-day process kicks in. Target is  the end of May – but TBD due to snow).

50+ permits will be released daily. ONLY via lottery on

$10 to apply and $10 per person per permit. This increase is small – but smells like a bit of “bait and switch.” Reason given is increase in costs by vendor to administer. Didn’t the NPS negotiate that months ago? What’s your take?

Dollar by dollar, the increases over the years make it hard for lower income visitors. I recall when admission to the park was $5.00.  OK, decades ago, but $30 per car now is significant.

Check this out….a flood warning for a whole month!

Still being worked on. Watch for one-lane traffic and closures. LEAVE early or you will sit for a very long time.
