We’re starting to see summer clearance sales now. Back to school sales. Fleece jackets and raincoats are beginning to show up on the racks. I just saw Halloween decoratons at Costco.  Sigh. Even Yosemite will soon be offering good deals. Cheap rooms soon.

Need someting to do in Septiember?  You may want to help out with the Park Clean up. The climbers organize this event to help the park out. Ken Yager is the head of the Climbing Club and drives this growing event. They collect literally tons of garbage that bozos toss during the summer. Bad home training. This year it’s September 21-25. Visit the Yosemite Climbing Association website for more information.

I’ll be at Hot August Nights in Reno this weekend… a huge old car gathering.  I hope  to find wifi and send out a blog. Have fun.

When do the room rates change in Yosemite?

some go down right after Labor Day, such as Curry Village tents for $80 rather than a bit over $100. mid-October, it’s $50 for heated and $39 unheated.

most of the summer options in the Valley are in place through the “Columbus” Day weekend.

later, there are often specials at the Lodge, depending on vacancy rates, I think. I’ve snagged winter mid-week rooms at the Lodge at the Falls at great rates.

during the winter, Curry Village tent cabins (some have heat for about $5-10 more per night) are only available Friday and Saturday nights, and taking the shuttle bus to the Lodge is the best food option.
