Single site for Half Dome permit info

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
A tip of the hat to the Yosemite Half Dome Permit Project team.

I made a suggestion and they implemented it. They now have a single website for ALL the info you will ever need about the Half Dome permit process. No more hunting around for shards of info. It has all the relevant links  for your reading enjoyment. Click <here> for your one stop Virtual Kiosk. Bookmark this so you can refer to it.

Here’s my take. They are concerned about people getting down in a hurry when the weather turns. Sub Dome is just as hard to get a mass of people down as the caqbles…well almost. So if you allowed 1,000 gawkers on Sub Dome, there could be a panic and all the cattle would roll off the hill in masse.

Also much easier to set up a Checkpoint Charlie near the bottom of Sub Dome.. .no room at the saddle or top without people sneaking around the Ranger.

You can transfer your “ticket” that you will be your permits. You can trash your confirmation email then.

The FAQ still does not address the “permit”. All I have is an email. How can that be transfered ?

It still blows me away that they have restricted passage up the sub-dome.
I thought it was all about the cables? Why can’t I walk to the base of the cables? Somebody answer me that?
