Yes I said RUN UP AND DOWN Half Dome. Reader Ewing H. tells me about a running event for all you die hards. How about getting your racing flats out and get ready to jog up the big rock.

Yes, people do. I know of a woman ultra marathon runner who trains on Half Dome. The Dirt Diva (Cat by name) has done it over 50 times. She’s a pallet for her local tattoo parlor with ink head to toe.But is a running machine. We met at the base one year. An odd couple – I look more like a narc.

Back to the run. The fun starts September 30 with a meet up in the Valley. The next day is the official start from Happy Isles. I guess they expect folks to fly up since the start is at 7:30 am.If  you are hiking that day, I’d keep to the right or you may get bowled over.

Curious?  Click <HERE> The record is held by Rickey Gates, RT in 2 hrs, 28 minutes and 15 seconds.  I cal lit a tie with Ryan Ghelfi at 2:30:50.

By the way, the High Sierra Camp lottery for 2013 opened Sept 1 and closes Nov 1. Thanks to Maureen L for this blip. It’s a great time … kinda “pricey” but neat.

Unrelated thought worth quoting:My little runaway, run-run-run-run-runaway.
