REI Sale kicks in the 21st thru Labor Day.

If you are not a member of REI – join. You will save a lot over the initiation fee. You’ll need to be a member to get some real good deals.

In addtion to the usual 40% any one item…you can get about 25% on many others.

REI’s Labor Day Sales begins the 125th. Some pretty good prices. You can get my favorite boot, the Vasque Breeze 3.0 for 25% off – Men’s List is now $180.

See my trusty boots.

Vasque Breeze 1.0 – still humming along

FYI ….the house brands are now called “REI Co-op.” Guess they want us to think there are twigs & nuts, not a major corporation.

The company has changed quite a bit in the recent years. For one, they don;t sell my book any more. HUH?  It’s the only hiking guide to doing half Dome.

Then they don’t want me to speak there. I used to do the 12 Bay area stores, for -0- compensation. Instead they  have a staff member give the half Dome talk….he/she has maybe done it twice.

Third, they have removed the DVD’s and in general focus on high margin products – clothing.

Fourth, they stopped printing their monthly events hand-out. they want us to go to the website to find out what speakers are coming in.  Fagettaboudit!  I liked to post the schedule near my desk and NOT have to do everything on the web.  So I haven’t been to a talk in years.

Anyway, jump on the sale. Hose brand tents are 30% off & non-down sleeping bags.

Did you get your Half Dome TShirt yet?  Mine are the best – 4-color and the ONLY one that shows the cables route.  Send me a comment and I’ll send you the process and pricing.

Carpe Diem!
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “It’s been a hard day’s night, and I’ve been working like a dog. It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a log.” – The Beatles
