Permit Exchange Service

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Unless you ‘ve been in the Congo the last 3 months, you know that all the permits for the Half Dome cables have been given out. I offered to let this blog be a place for folks to ask for / give away unused permits. We’ve had dozens of responses but that page is fading into the archives. Here is the link again <HERE>. If you have extras, help your fellow earthling and post them. The is NO formal NPS process to turn in unused tickets. If interested, contact folks directly using the email address that is shown next to their name. While I am not the thought police I must remind you that these NPS permits cannot be sold or auctioned off. The Park does have staff who monitor these sites to nab scofflaws. Let your conscience be your guide; I see no harm in recouping your $1.50 service charge per ticket. Thanks for the community fellowship to help each other out. What goes around comes around.

Many of you slack off reading this blog on weekends. Be sure to be here this weekend. Iwill do a dump of the NPS Half Dome Stewardship Plan meeting in Berkeley Wed night. A hint: I could hear echos in the room.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends? I I seen you ’round for a long long time, I really ‘membered you when you drink my wine. Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends?” – War

Hi everyone. My girlfriend and I are taking a cross-country trip and hope to scale Half Dome sometime between Friday, July 22 and Monday, July 25. If anyone can help out, I will be forever grateful. I will also send a picture of me proposing to her atop Half Dome; I am planning on doing this during the trip, but I will save it for then, as this is really a dream of hers. If I were reading this, I might regard it as a joke, but I promise that it is not. I will follow through!!!

Thanks for reading and, hopefully, helping out.

Free Half Dome Cable Permits!!! I have four half dome cable permits for May-June 2011. Two are for Tuesday, May 31 and two are for Wed June 1. My wife is recovering from knee surgery and will not be able to join me to the top so I will likely only use one of these four tickets myself. I am open to meeting anyone in the valley over the Memorial weekend up to June 1 to arrange the transfer of these FREE passes. What I am looking for in trade is the opportunity to throw a tent on your site on Sunday night, May 29 or possibly Thursday, June 2. We have lodging arranged for May 30-June 2 but could not get anything for Sunday. Drop me a line at michael.moritz@analog.com and we can work on figuring something out. Have a great trip.

Good morning all, it’s April 20, 2011. I wish I would have seen this post earlier. Our family scheduled a reunion trip to Yosemite last year and we made our cabin reservations a year in advance, when the policy I believe was still permits required only on the weekends. We can make the Half Dome on either July 26th or 27th. There are a lot in our group who want to go 10-12 wanting to do the hike, but I would appreciate anyone willing to “transfer” 2 permits for an Aunt and a Cousin of mine who are making the trip from New Zealand. I’ve gone up the cables before but my cousin has not. Thank you very much.
