More openings at Yosemite National Park | Pack your bags and head to the park

The good old days on HDome

The good old days on Half Dome

First off, if you got Half Dome permits for May, NOW is the time to get serious about your training. HILLS and a lot of them. Then do them again.

Another bit of advice that will make you happy: Taper down your last week. Don’t do anything. You don’t want to risk injury that cannot heal in a week. You will not lose any of your conditioning in that week.

Get ready: National Park Week is upon us. That means free admission to Yosemite on April 19th and 20th. Where to stay? Things are all cleaned up and spiffy for you at Housekeeping Camp – it’s open. But good luck on getting a reservation this late.

The Glacier Point Tour and the Grand Tour are now being offered daily. Those are awesome ways to see a lot of the park – narrated! The Village Store Tour & Activity Desk are also open.

The Curry Village Bike Stand is also open for the season. If you are going this weekend, note that the Curry Village Raft Rentals will open tomorrow, the 19th.

I’m looking for 2-4 half dome permits in either May, June, or August. I’m not sure if the forum is still up or how to access the trading site.

    • Sohie,

Those days are over. There was too much scalping going on, so the park began a lottery system. There is now way to get a permit other than the 2-day mini-lottery. Check out the website under the PERMITS button for all the info.
