Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
The recipients of the 2009 National Park Service Field Training Ranger (Jimmy Barna of Big South Fork) and Field Training Lead (Mark Warmerdam of Golden Gate) of the Year Awards have been announced. These awards recognize exceptional commitment to the NPS Field Training and Evaluation Program. Nominees must have demonstrated a commitment to the program through outstanding performance in the following areas: Service, Leadership, Quality, Spirit, Coaching and Creativity. Noteworthy is that of nearly 400 NPS units, 2 Yosemite Rangers were nominated: Robert Lewis and Mike Siler. Congrats!
In other news, I flipped the remote during commercials from the BCS Football championship and came upon a neat show called Live Well HD.
The segment was called “Motion.” The host, Greg Aiello, was narrating his walk to Taft Point in Yosemite. The show appears to be home brewed with his brother holding the camera – but good quality and I assume in HD. It looked pretty good. I didn;t linger long since the game was a good one. Anyone heard of it? In the San Francisco/Bay Area it’s over the air on Channel 7.2 and on Comcast on Channel 715. Click <HERE> to see the website. It lists 8 other shows with Big Sur, Zion and the Channel Islands. – But the Yosemite one was not posted.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “You ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog cryin’ all the time. Well, you ain’t never caught a rabbit and you ain’t no friend of mine.” – Elvis Presley, Happy 75th Birthday
