Congrats to women big wall climbers Mayan Smith-Gobat and Chantel Astorga. They broke the speed record for women up the Nose route of El Capitan at Yosemite. On September 23rd they set the new record at 7 hours 26 minutes. The men’s record is 2 hours, 23 minutes, 46 seconds set in June by Hans Florine and Alex Honnold.
The ladies completed the day by doing the first female “link up” – El Cap AND Half Dome on the same day. To do this they started up at 3:30 am.
