More permits to be released for Yosemite’s Half Dome

Look closely at this screen shot of recreation.gov. What do those numbers mean under the X’s???  Turns out they are the actual number of permits that will be in each day’s 2-day mini-lottery!!

Where did they find the extra permits? When people did not confirm their winning permits from the march lottery by May 20, they were cancelled and put back into the pool. In addition, more people decided not to go and they cancelled to get the $8 refund.

So your odds just went up. Over 100 on some days. I went up May 25 and the rangers told me that of the then ~350 total permits, only about 200+ did the hike up the cables. So go for it and don’t say you can’t get a permit.
