The preferred alternative gets a little confusing with all the puyllouts, diagrams text and tables. I got an update from the park on the actual number of campsites for the various sites.
It says: “16 West of the famous Camp 4 and 35 east of Camp 4.” This means the 16 sites will be constructed west of Backpacker’s Campground which is located east of the Ahwahnee near Royal Arches Meadow.
Further: “Eagle Creek will get 42 auto sites and 2 group campsites.” It’s actually 40 drive-in and 2 group, so 42 total.
And then: “Bottom line is a 28% increase of campsites in the whole River/Valley corridor.” It is a 28% increase for Yosemite Valley and Wawona together. If you are just looking at the Valley, it is a 37% increase.
