Law Enforcement training at Yosemite

Yosemite and other National Parks employ rangers who are also real cops. Meaning they are sworn US Government police officers. They carry guns and can arrest you. There is a Federal magistrate (court) right in the park. Yes, a jail also.

If you are at Yosemite September 30 – October 3, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) will be holding a course called Law Enforcement Control Tactics Refresher Instructor Training.

FLETC, based in Glynco, GA, trains officers and agents from all federal departments and all three branches of government. It is a component of the Department of Homeland Security.

It’s a 40 hour course designed to update Yosemite Instructors who graduated from the Control Tactics Instructor Training class, the Arrest Techniques class or the Defensive Tactics class.

This 5 day program will cover:

Striking and Close Quarter Defensive Tactics

Pressure Points

Weapon Retention

Ground Defense

Arrest Techniques

Baton Control Techniques

Edged Weapon Awareness

Oleoresin Capsicum Spray

Use of Force
