June 16 – HOT stuff going on

Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Major stuff.
#1 – The cables are supposed to be up. I have not seen any official word that the gates are open. If anyone hears …  let us know.
#2  – The NPS Half Dome  Stewardship Plan scoping meeting is at REI Berkeley from 4-8. Be there or be rectangular.
#3 – The new Yosemite  Conservancy has a new mini-website. I am really surprised that they are saying the FULL up website will be on line in October – huh? Why so long? A good web designer could bang it out in a week. If you want to see the mini-site – click <here>
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Every mornin’ at the mine you could see him arrive, he stood six foot six and weighed 245. Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip and everybody knew you didn’t give no lip to Big John.” – R.I.P. Jimmy Dean

WoW! Some real-time updated info today from Yosemite: “The Half Dome cables are up. Conditions permitting, they will remain in place through October 11, 2010. (Learn more about the Half Dome hike. Please note that permits are required to hike to Half Dome on Fridays-Sundays and holidays beginning this year.)”
