Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

berlin wall

I rarely comment on news events, but I am compelled to ask – why are people hiking near the borders of North Korea and Iran? We just saw how great the US National Parks are and a person could spend years and not see them all. Most countries have spots with good scenery but it is clear that we own the best. I am not saying anyone is a spy, but why in the world would anyone take a vacation near such volatile areas? Aarrgghh.

We have our 9-11.  Germans have their 11-9. The Berlin Wall came down on Nov 11, 1989. 20 years. Amazing for those of us who lived when it was up.  Kudos to Ronnie Regan for having the moxie to push for it to come down.
Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Mr. Gorbachev: Tear down this wall!” – Ronald Regan at the Brandenburg Gate, June 12, 1987

Well said, seems crazy it’s been that long. It’s easy to take that kind of stuff for granted. Freedom is not won easily
