One thing I like to bring to the audience is info about new gear. I discovered a neat source of products that yall might want to check out. It’s a company out of our smaller sister city to the north, San Francisco, called “Huckberry.”
Huckberry is a members-only website / blog that caters to young, active people who are into hot new apparel and gear. Once you sign up, you are dished an email each week with deals that they are able to get from name manufacturers. They are allowed to run the sales for a week then it’s gone. In recent weeks they have featured a lot of brands in the outdoor space – up to 60% off. (Poler, Base Camp X, Isaora, PocketToolX) as well as more apparel/style orientated brands (Joey Roth, DRIFT Eyewear, Baxter, Alex Maine, Barrett Alley). Some of their more interesting blogs are: How to Tie a Tie, 10 Worst Products For Men Ever Created, and Bringing Back the Hat. So if you are a hip dude or dudette, check them out. Let’s get out of this recession – spend some money!!
OK just so you know… my website and blog are now integrated. They have been updated and merged into a single WordPress engine. Click on the photos to enlarge and wsee the whole enchilada. Everything from the old website has been transferred over to the new look. Nothing is missing. Some bugs remain, and I need to go back and categorize all 700 previous posts (ugh). All your favorite links are there. The motivation was two-fold. 1. To allow better access by mobile devices and 2. To modernize the look and feel. All this helps with the robots who search and rank sites. My HikeHalfdome.com comes up on the first page, behind the NPS and some guy named Kenton Lee. His website talks about a trip he did back in 2000. But he must know how to play the Google game. Just bookmark this site and you get all the good juice from the website and the highly erudite Blog postings.
Thunder and Lightning
Many days ahead with 40% chance of rain /thunderstorms at the park. Keep off Half Dome!! By the way, the 40% means that 40% of the land area in the zone of coverage will get wet….not that every spot has a 40% chance of getting wet.
