Free app helps hikers get up Half Dome

On a hot August day in Yosemite I enjoyed another hike up Half Dome. To my joy, I ran into a man who was excited to talk. He recognized me as Mr Half Dome. I admit it was a real ego trip. But what really made my day was when he held up his smart phone and told me he using my Half Dome app.

Smart phone app fits in your pocket.

He had it right there with him. He was with a group of other first-timers and told me that during his preparation for the hike, he viewed the app three times. He also had his group view it.

I did app for Everytrail – a Trip Advisor company. It’s very comprehensive and is a adjunct to my book. I have descriptions and photos of the points of interest. For example, I show you where the semi-secret Little Spring; this is your last water source as you approach Sub Dome. I also have video interviews. One highlight is the one with Royal Robbins, the first person up the face of half Dome in 1957.
Oh, it’s free and runs on any smart phone or even your PC. The content downloads onto your device, so yo don’t need an internet connection.
