Half Dome permits | Yosemite Campgrounds open

After the summit of Half Dome

After the summit of Half Dome #90 for Steve Hutton

All advanced permits to hike up to the top of Half Dome will be selected NLT April 15 – Tuesday. You’ll get an email saying YES or NO. The only way to get a permit later is to do the 2-day mini lottery.   And so we wait and wait and worry and “what-if.”

El Capitan's trash grab

Three of Yosemite’s climbing rangers went up El Cap to clean up all the trash people left in cracks. A neat video. Hmmmm “Leave no trace climbing?

Save the date: April 17 – Webinar on hiking the old Big Oak Flat Road.

YNP is now clearing the snow off of the Glacier Point Road. They’ll start plowing Tioga Road Tuesday.

North Pines Campground and the Backpacker Camp are now open. All Pines Campgrounds are on reservation and fully booked for the season; people may NOT just walk in and choose a site.

The toilet and fountain at the Vernal Fall footbridge are ready for you.
