Casey Nocket of New York identified as the person suspected of defacing National Parks

For reasons unknown, Ms. Nocket, 21, decided to paint on rocks at eight National Parks, including Yosemite. Others include: Rocky Mountain National Park, Crater Lake National Park, Joshua Tree National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park.

Most were stylized faces of women. She posted her work on her Instagram site, which made it easy to track her down. She wrote: “It’s art, not vandalism, I am an artist.” She will probably be charged with a felony – that is if she is not given a blanket party first.

She posted under the odd name of “Creepytings” – whatever that is supposed to mean. The work at Yosemite has been removed already. This story reminds me of the petroglyphs that were sawed out on the Eastern Sierra slope, not that long ago.

What is with it? Are we a nation with a disproportionate allotment of twits?

If you know her or see her, call the cops. Then organize that blanket party.

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Now when you’re feelin’ low and the fish won’t bite. You need a little bit o’ soul to put you right. You gotta make like you wanna kneel and pray. And then a little bit of soul will come your way.” – The Music Explosion
