Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
Trying to get in shape for Half Dome? Ya gotta do a lot of hill work. But what if you have no hills where you live?? You can always find a skyscraper and do the fire escape steps. OK, here’s another idea. Kinda of off-beat – but it’s a killer. Above you see an
escalator in a major mall near my domicile. Have you ever gone the wrong way on an escalator? Whew. So go up the down escalator. It will tear you up. Just when you get a rhythm going and start to make progess, begin to float backward. A burst of speed, then you take a short rest … and backward you slide. But talk about a great leg workout. Try it early in the morning before the shoppers call security to throw net over you. I challenged my nephews to join me in a run up the down escalator in the METRO station in DC. We did it!
