Half Dome – Yosemite Musings
A good suggestion for your pre- and post- Half Dome hike meals is the convenient
Curry Village Food Pavilion. It is located at camp center, in the retail area. For about $12 you get a decent cafeteria style smorgasbord of epicurean delights. (Over 55 yrs gets you a discount) OK, I am not a gourmet, and a hot dog will do me fine, but I really like the food here. They have a balanced menu of fish, chicken, pasta, rice, tacos, potatoes, veggies, kettles of soups and a large salad bar. You can go back as many times as you like. Drinks are machine dispensed – I get about 6 cranberry juices. Boxed milk is also available. The deserts are nice. Always some sort of cake – chocolate or carrot. Be sure to leave room for jello or pudding. Just don’t pork out before your hike. And don’t eat anything that is unusual to your gut. You don’t want it barking at you on the hike. I don’t “carbo load;” most will be on its way south by the time you need it. Energy bars should do that trick. Post hike I just load up and bury my yapper in my plate.
