There is evil among us. Some of you have been approached via email by “Reserve Yosemite.” This is a totally bogus scam to get you to buy scalped camping and Half Dome permits. There is no such legit organization as Reserve Yosemite. Here’s what their “friendly” bait looksl ike – don’t nibble.

Fellow Hikers

Are you or your family/friends still looking for Half Dome permits or valley floor campsites in Yosemite National Park this summer?  I may be able to help for a premium service fee.  All reservations will be fully updated to your name to comply with the new required ID check-in policy (yes, it is possible).  If you do not support American capitalism, please ignore this email and your email address will be automatically removed from the list.

ReserveYosemite@yahoo.com

And another one – some clown is impersonating me on Craig’s List, trying to sell HD permits. He is asking you to reply to MrHalfDome@yahoo.com. I am at gmail.com. The name “Mr Half Dome” is trademarked and any unauthorized use is a federal offense. So if any scoflaws are reading this and trying to bilk people, I suggest you cease and desist. The Park Service (read Dept of Justice) is close to nabbing you and your head will be on a stake for all others to see. Have a nice day.

Resale of this permit is a violation of Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, section 1.6.

Here’s clip from the “The 3 Stooges go to Yosemite” on July 3. What was he thinking?

Unrelated thought worth quoting: “Keep close to Nature’s heart, yourself; and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”  –  John Muir

Anybody here own one of those giant RVs? The really big ones can be really tricky to park.

  3. Matt says:

I also got an email from “reserve yosemite”. I promptly forwarded to the rangers at Yosemite as I have done with other various scalpers. I got a fairly swift and thankful reply. Hopefully they get what’s coming to them.

good riddance … no royal couple in Yosemite

Might be tricky getting the Feds onto our ReserveYosemite chum…looks to my amateur eye that he might be scalping from Moscow of all places.

    • mrhalfdome says:

      Boris,

What do you say that? Cool, we;re now talking the CIA, Interpol, the UN and Boy Scouts on the case.

      • Dean says:

IP address in the mail header points in that direction, though I’m no expert in these matters and mail headers can be faked quite easily I believe.

I have a feeling this is genuine though, particularly when you look at the strange “American capitalism” reference.
