Half Dome – Yosemite Musing
I took this shot a few years ago.
What you see is a 7-year old girl and her dad heading up subdome. I was on the way down from the Half Dome cables. He said they were both going up. I don’t know. 7 is a bit young in my book. Kids are not small adults. This hike is a monster for anyone 20 years older than her. Where’s the water? I gotta shake my head on some parent’s judgment. But they are your kids and your responsibility.
Badger Pass Ski Area, California’s first ski resort, opened this weekend…but just for the weekend. It’ll shut down until Dec 11 when the season gets into full swing. Wear a helmet. Courtesy shuttle buses from Yosemite Valley to Badger Pass Ski Area are offered daily.
Promotions – Ed Dunlavey is the new Wilderness Branch Chief. Mark Marschall will remaining in a non-commission role assisting in specific wilderness projects and Kevin Killian will be the Deputy Chief Ranger/Operations Branch Chief.
