Another rockfall at Yosemite

April 3 and 4 saw a minor rockfall at a climbing area known as Bishop’s Terrace / Church Bowl. This is in the Royal Arches area – east of the Ahwanee Hotel. Park Geologist Greg Stock said the wall is very threatening and climbing routes in the area are hereby closed. Click to enlarge.

DNC re-opened the Valley Village Store after a $1.15 million dollar remodel. The new store has a 25 percent energy use reduction, offers visitors “an eco-friendly (huh?) and healthy park shopping experience through the store’s sustainable design.” (Their words.)  Wow,  sounds a lot like touchy-feely. First one to see it, please give us a report.

Advanced planning – FREE admission to Yosemite April 21-29 – It’s National Park Week.  Plan on it being jammed this weekend – Easter.
