Aaron Ralston’s story was captured in an exciting movie in 2012 that starred James Franco. He was the man who went out alone and when he got stuck in a Utah slot canyon crevice, was forced to break his arm that was trapped by a huge boulder. This was his only escape. He was there for…well…127 hours.
He was arrested last week by Denver police for domestic violence. The official charges were assault and “wrongs to minors.” Ralston, 38, was taken to Denver City Jail for booking. Also arrested was his companion, Vita Shannon, a woman. They had a hearing yesterday in Denver County Court. Legal documents allege Shannon struck Ralston twice in the back of the head with her fists and that he shoved her as she was leaving her apartment. The documents say they were arguing over another child of Ralston’s.
They both face fines of up to $999 and a sentence of up to a year in jail if convicted. It’s standard procedure for suspects in domestic violence cases to be jailed.
