The single engine plane that was reported missing over Yosemite National Park on Monday, December 17, 2012, has been located.  The plane, which was largely intact, was spotted by a park visitor near Vogelsang High Sierra Camp on Saturday, July 6, 2013.

Search crews could not find it during the winter due to high snows and the fact that the plane was white. The body of the pilot was found.   The body of the pilot, Nicol Wilson, was found deceased at the location.  He has been positively identified.

Wilson, who was flying from the Santa Barbara area to the Mammoth Lakes Airport

Investigation will be undertaken to determine the cause of the accident. Vogelsang is a popular mountain and in one of the high Sierra camps. It is a common route for back country hiker.

Our condolences to the family and friends.
