Half Dome – Yosemite Musing

Where were you at about 1 o’clock yesterday (the 11th)? Check this out…. At exactly 1: 11 am or pm, on January 11th, 2011 – this came up watches all over the globe.

The Twilight Zone???

Ooooooo. If you missed the harmonic convergence, pencil in November 11th for the same thing. Won’t happen again until Feb 22nd, 2022.

Almost 3 weeks after Christmas and we still see holiday lights on gutters. Come on folks. Take them down and put up your Martin Luther King, Jr. lights – the holiday is this Monday.

Good sign at Costco today – they are putting out their swim fins, goggles and snorkel gear. Summer is on the way!  Got plans this weekend? If you are not skiing, stop by Sonora and hear my talks. I will be giving one at 10 am: “Someday Never Comes” – a Motivational talk. Then at 2 pm we go hard core with “Hike Half Dome – Anyone Can *.” Both are free.  At St. Patrick’s Church Hall in town.  If you have to stay home, I can suggest you hit the Bay Area Travel and Adventure Show. It’s at the Santa Clara Convention Center. (Tasman and Great America Pkwy) I’ve been before. It’s pretty good. Rick Steves gave a talk last year. The counties surrounding Yosemite all have booths and a ton of info.  Try to use this coupon for  a discount.

You know, your watch will look like that every year on January 11th. The watch doesn’t show the year, only the month and day.

Carey – you must an engineer. Bingo. My watch doesn’t show the year…but I KNOW it’s ’11. … but good catch. It was fun…like watching your car odometer spin from 99999 to 00000. On newer cars you get to see 100000. Neat.

      • John says:

My watch does show full year as well as elapsing seconds. 2011, 1 11, 1:11 , 11 (all at the same time).

  2. John says:

    Nice watch! Got barometer?
